Special Chemistry Disaccharidase Assay
Genesis is one of the few laboratories in the country specializing in Disaccharidases assay in Intestinal Biopsy specimens.
Genesis Labs provides molecular diagnostic and anatomic pathology solutions for gastrointestinal diseases.
Congenital Sucrase-Isomaltose Deficiency (CSID) is a disorder that affects a person’s ability to digest certain sugars.
Disaccharidases are enzymes that break down complex sugars so the intestine can absorb the nutrients. If deficiency of these enzymes in the duodenum is not treated, it can lead to severe gastrointestinal symptoms, including diarrhea, bloated stomach, and stomach rumbling.
Genesis disaccharidases testing protocol was based on the Nemours Biomedical Research paper that uses the glucose oxidize reagent and plate-reader protocol.
The Glucose Oxidase method helps to determine the enzyme activity of:
- Lactase
- Sucrase
- Maltase
- Palatinase
- The disaccharidase activity is expressed as enzyme activity units (micromole/min) per protein mass (mg).
- Turnaround Time 72 hours.
